The Reality : Of an Old House (vs. the Romance)

There are some hard realities that go along with the romance
of owning an old house.  We are finding out the hard way what
some of those are.  As with any house, you have to constantly
repair it.  There are special things you have to do with a home
over 100 years old. This is not romance. But then again, it is.

I'll add a hall update later.

It took an entire day to scrape and prime
both sides of one section. How many days
are left in  summer?

DH was wondering the same thing.
What happened to the romance?

As they say, "Work makes life sweet!"

Hope you are having a great week!

  1. Lottie, girl this is going to be so pretty when its all done...Beautiful home my friend..Love it...thanks for sharing Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria

  2. I got so tired of painting and maintaining the spindles here at spindle cottage that we took out a lot of them. We still have a lot! But I took out most of the ones in the carport area and all of the lower ones on the front porch and all of the ones that used to line a patio and we replaced the patio too! I threatened to take out some spindles between the dining and living area , but my family has not let me remove those, so far!

  3. Enjoy your remodeling's going to pay off and you'll be so happy at the end that you did it. I luv the exterior of your cottage! I also just want to stop by and say "thanks" for commenting about my Tiffany Bleu cottage.

  4. A labor of love is always worth it! Looks like you are making progress!

  5. Ps. You got me right--I love tomato sandwhiches---I have been even having them as snacks this week!! Keep safe in your remodeling!!!

  6. It already looks so beautiful! I can't wait to see the finished hall way!! Love the wood moldings! I would love to sit on your porch!!
