Honey, I shrunk the bloggers!

Remember that fun movie starring Rick Moranis
about a scientist who shrinks his children to 1/4
inch and takes them out with the trash?  The rest
of the movie is the journey of the children making
it back across the back yard, with friendly ants,
flying on a bumble bee and surviving giant rain drops!

                       What a fun movie!

Please forgive my silliness today, but I started thinking
about what it would be like
to take a walk in the yard,
but as a little person.
What about it?
Would you like to join me
for my walk today?

Do you mind if we get ....shrunk?
Ok, it's done!

Let's start at the snow bell forest.

Wow!
Things look different
from this point of view.

.....Beautiful!

I've never even seen the periwinkle ground
cover bloom.   And I feel like I could climb
into one of these pale pink tulips and take
a little nap.

In fact, I feel pretty good right now considering
I've been shrunk.  Here comes another tulip
forest.

Oh, No!

Here comes Natalie!

Go away kitty!

Let's hide behind the yellow tulips!

She can't find us!  Let's run back to the snow bell forest and grow up!

Run!

Run!

Back and ready to grow up!
Ok, it's done!

Thank you for putting up with my silliness today!  I'm always amazed
at how different the world looks to little children.  Every once in a while
I like to get down on my knees and look at the world ......and I'll
admit it is getting harder and harder to get back up!  Have a wonderful
day!

Love,
Lottie

Pink Saturday - French Lovers

Welcome to Pink Saturday!

This is a ceramic planter that I bought a few months ago in an
antique shop.  I thought it was beautiful!  When I saw these two
lovers ... I call them French Lovers, I fell in love with love again!

And every morning when the alarm goes off and I wake up to
flip on the light, I see the French Lovers are still in love!

Happy Pink Saturday!  Thank you Beverly at
How Sweet the Sound for hosting Pink Saturday.
For some awesome pictures of spring,
visit with Melanie at The Old White Cottage.

A Walk in the Yard

When I come home from work everyday at 4 pm, I like to walk
around the yard a little and see what's blooming.  Would you
like to join me this afternoon?

Here is a nice bench to rest a spell and look over the buttercups.

Something pink is blooming.  I have forgotten the name but I love
the color pink!

Buttercups are everywhere!

Hello Elizabeth!  I see you hiding!

And, of course, it becomes a lovely
walk when I visit with my dear sweet
neighbor. Ruth is 90 years old and a
very wise lady!  She shows me her
beans popping up in her garden.

Thank you for joining me for a walk
in the yard.  It's time to go in now
and fix supper.  Tonight is a special
night as it is my son's 28th birthday!

And thankfully, spring is here!  Even the pansies are happy!

Have a great week!
Love,
Lottie

New Old Chair

Since my DH has retired, he has been very kind to old things, such
as this wooden chair.  The old chair was out of an 1890 house and
in terrible repair, totally unusable.  My DH had the chair refinished
and a new woven cane added.  The chair is beautiful now!

The back has hinges on it so the back can be adjusted.  A pole goes
across the back.  We thought this was odd, but after talking to older
relatives, we found out people used to recline and take a nap in this
kind of chair.

I thought the wood came out nicely.

There is only one problem with this chair!  It is about as comfortable as
sitting on a ROCK!

I've measured to make pillows, but I have no time.   So I set about
looking for pillows for this chair this weekend.  I  wondered if a 44"
long lawn furniture pillow would work?  My DH grabbed his hat and
said lets go shopping and see what is out there.  We went to Target
first, and looked at the lawn furniture.  My DH picks up a 44" long
green pillow and says this would fit the look of the chair.  I was a
little skeptical at the store, but since my DH never asks to go shopping
with me, I agreed we should try it.

I LOVE IT!  And now the chair is the most comfortable one in the
house. Who would have thought new and old would go so well together?
The full cushions complement this chair.  It is soooo comfortable now!
But it looks like no one is going to let me get too comfortable.  LOL!

Lottie

Pink Saturday - Strawberry Shortcake

Today is Pink Saturday at How Sweet the Sound.
Be sure to visit Beverly and welcome all the new
Pink Saturday participants.

Everyone from the South knows that everyone,
everywhere, and everything has a story. My
story is that I had three brothers and no sisters.
So I grew up camping in tents and going fishing.
When we were children, we all had bunk beds
with green army blankets on them.  It was a
boys world.  I'm over 50 now, and although I live
in a house with three men, my DH and two grown DSs, I finally
have my girl world.  Here are two of my pink favorites!

This is my Strawberry Shortcake alarm clock.

This is MY chair on the deck in a sea of brown chairs!

Thank you for visiting today.  Hope you will visit Tiffanee at
One Crazy Cookie.  She always has a great Pink Saturday!

Love,
Lottie

Dreamsicle Mousse - Low calorie

This is a picture of a regular
Dreamsicle Orange Salad with
all the marshmallows and pine-
apple and regular Cool Whip.

It is.......good.  But I found
a recipe that I like much better!
I tweaked a Weight Watchers
recipe with my own version
and created a favorite dessert.

Dreamsicle Mousse

1 small box Sugar-free orange Jello
1 small box Sugar-free Cheesecake instant pudding
1 small can madarin oranges, drained
1 8oz. container lite Cool Whip

Dissolve Jello in 1 cup boiling water.  Add 1 cup cold water, mix
well.  Let set for 5 minutes.

Using an electric mixer, mix the dry pudding into the Jello until
well blended.  Fold in the mandarin oranges and the Cool Whip.
Chill for several hours till firm.  Makes at least 10 servings
at 1/2 cup per serving.  I serve it as a dessert.

If you're doing Weight Watchers, 1 cup = 2.5 points.

Enjoy!

Daffodils (Buttercups) and Lenten Rose

Spring is here!  I can tell warm weather is on its way when I can look
out my window and see all the buttercups across the front yard.

My DH introduced me to the Lenten Rose.  He planted them both
across the front yard and by the back door.  To be honest, he planted all
the beautiful things in our yard!  I just enjoy seeing them bloom.

What is blooming in your yard?

Spring Comes to My Blue Cottage

Martha at Lines of Linderhof posted an entry about forcing blooms.
I thought the pictures were beautiful!  I wondered if I could do it,
too, but with Forsythia   I just broke branches off and put them into
a vase of water.  This picture shows two days inside in a warm
room.  Maybe you can see a little green..

This vase is four days old.  Branches were brought in and placed
in the dining room beside a fireplace where we keep a fire burning.

Spring is inside!  Try it!  Everyone have a good week!
Love,
Lottie :-)

Pink Saturday - Big Comfy Chairs

It's Pink Saturday at Beverly's How Sweet the Sound  and I forgot
to email her this morning that I had a Pink Saturday post.  I want to
post it anyway because I love these big comfy "pink" plaid chairs!

We went on a weekend getaway last weekend and these chairs were
the first thing I saw when we came in our vacation unit.  My DH says
I never saw anything else because the "pink" blinded me to everything
else. (He may be right, :-)  I moved them together so DH and I could
watch TV together.  I spent a couple of hours in one of these chairs
reading my book as the sunlight poured in the windows! So relaxing.

Hope you all have a happy Pink Saturday! Be sure to visit Beverly
to see all the other pink posts!
Love,
Lottie
