Raining and Day Lilies

Well, I'm back. Missed everyone.  Can't believe in a few days we will all be enjoying June!

These beautiful day lilies are blooming today in my side garden.  There was a little sun this morning, but then this evening we received a heavy downpour.  I love these day lilies!  They always make me so happy!

I started my morning with a trip across town to have my yearly  mammogram.

Then, DH drove me back across town to my chair supported yoga class at the senior center.  I was trying to be good to myself today. This class has really grown from 5 to 12 people.  Great!

On the way home, we stopped in to a thrift store I had never been in before.  Only about half the merchandise had a price on it and the half that did were too high.  I know a few thrift stores where everything is marked with a price and some of the items are treasures.  I'll stick to visiting those few in the future.

DH ate a quick lunch at home and left for his Wednesday afternoon bowling with friends.  I layed down on the couch to shut my eyes a few minutes.  I feel asleep and don't remember anything until DH came in the back door about 5 pm.  He had bowled til 3 pm and the next 2 hrs. he had worked in our back yard.

We finished the evening watching the rain out the bay windows in the den.  We almost couldn't see the house behind us.  6 out of 7 days ahead call for rain.

"The rain began again. It fell heavily, easily, with no meaning or intention but the fulfillment of its own nature, which was to fall and fall. "

October Bulb Planting Time

Welcome October!  I should have a picture of a pumpkin or a Jack-o-Lantern on this post, but I'm thinking about pansies today.  The temps this morning were cold out on the deck and I mentally replaced every pot of geraniums with a pot of pansies.  The picture above was from a few years ago.  I need to get started with my pansy replacing.

I read a blog post last month where the blogger suggested buying a 100 blue hyacinth bulbs to plant now for the delicious smell when they come up in the spring.  DH and I bought 2 bags (20 in all bulbs) of blue hyacinth bulbs from Lowe's.  Now we have to find the time to plant them.  I'm really excited about next spring.   We have over 100, maybe 200, golden daffodils planted in front of the house.  They just get better and better each year.

So much is happening in the world right now.  Spring bulbs seem inconsequential but we have to include beauty in our lives.  What about you?  What thing of beauty are you including in your life?

Lottie

July Glory - Tiger Lily

In July we have the most beautiful sights from our Tiger Lilies!  Friendly butterflies come to visit.

DH bought the first Tiger Lily for me years ago.  They have multiplied each year and only lasted a couple of weeks this year because of our 100+ temperatures!  They don't require any care at all.  Only concern is that  they are supposed to be toxic to cats, but my cats just eat cat food and never bother them.

So beautiful!  All year I look forward to their blooms which are in full glory around July 4th!
