October Bulb Planting Time

Welcome October!  I should have a picture of a pumpkin or a Jack-o-Lantern on this post, but I'm thinking about pansies today.  The temps this morning were cold out on the deck and I mentally replaced every pot of geraniums with a pot of pansies.  The picture above was from a few years ago.  I need to get started with my pansy replacing.

I read a blog post last month where the blogger suggested buying a 100 blue hyacinth bulbs to plant now for the delicious smell when they come up in the spring.  DH and I bought 2 bags (20 in all bulbs) of blue hyacinth bulbs from Lowe's.  Now we have to find the time to plant them.  I'm really excited about next spring.   We have over 100, maybe 200, golden daffodils planted in front of the house.  They just get better and better each year.

So much is happening in the world right now.  Spring bulbs seem inconsequential but we have to include beauty in our lives.  What about you?  What thing of beauty are you including in your life?

Love,
Lottie

  1. Tis crazy world does not always provide beauty for us so it
is up to us to provide for ourselves. At least we can pick and choose what makes us happy.

Do the squirrels dig up your bulbs??

I will have a new post up soon.

  2. Your purple pansies are very pretty, Lottie! It's refreshing to see other colours besides the typical autumn ones. Yes, we do need beauty in our lives, maybe even more so, in view of what's happening in today's world.

    Happy weekend!

    Love,
    Poppy

  6. Hi Lottie! Did you get your bulbs planted? I had planned on buying a bunch of tulip bulbs to plant but I haven't done a thing - not even buying them. Thanks so much for popping in to see me.
    Be a sweetie,
