Fall Fence Wreath

I have tons of plastic pumpkins and store bought scarecrows that I didn't put out this year.  Instead I was inspired by a broken, rusty piece of a plastic rake I found thrown in the corner of the garage.  I thought it looked interesting, like art.

I was inspired by a picture of a similar rake wreath on the internet.  I can't remember where in the world I found that picture, but I woke up the next morning determined to create a fall wreath for my fence.  I wrapped shiny metal leaf decorations around the rake and tied it to the fence.

The rusty car part on the chain is a weight to keep the gate closed.  It works really well!  (We call that art, too!)

As I walk by the rake wreath every day, I just look at it and just love it!  There is something about the sparkly leaf garland that catches my eye!  As the days get shorter and darker and colder (and closer to Halloween), I remember as a child being inspired by imagination.

Happy Halloween!

Pantry Habit: Three Minute Check

Why am I showing you my little pantry closet off my kitchen?  Because it is organized and it has been organized for six weeks although the items change daily.  That makes me happy!

DH does the grocery shopping on Wednesday and I have discovered it is best for me to make out "my list" for him on Tuesday.  So every Tuesday, right after dinner, I go into the pantry and for three minutes, I arrange everything again and leave space for him to add things.  It works!  Everything is always in order!

“It turns out that an eerie type of chaos can lurk just behind a facade of order - and yet, deep inside the chaos
lurks an even eerier type of order.”

(Maybe I am spending too much time in the pantry...?)

Have a wonderful week!  Do you know what is in your pantry?

Healthy October

This is Richard B. Russell Lake between South Carolina and Georgia.  It is one of the quietest and most restful lakes I have visited.  A part of being healthy is visiting beautiful places.

Healthy October Update:

I'm still walking that mile plus every day!  I had started walking back on July 1st and wrote it on a calendar page the first month and created a habit.  I hope this habit stays with me forever!  My body feels so much better after I walk!

Now in October,  I added a little extra.  My sweet new neighbor invited me to visit a nearby senior center where she is taking an Arthritis Exercise Class.  Although it is painful at times, it seems to help, especially the arthritis in my hands.  So I go (and wear makeup) every Tuesday and Thursday.  We do our movements sitting in a chair.  The cost is the membership in the senior center, $4 a month.  The first two weeks were very painful, and I thought about quitting, but I decided to stick it out.

As for weight loss, I am still losing and gaining the same 4 lbs over and over and over.  I've planned and written in a food diary each week since August 1st but have been inconsistent with food choices.  In other words, I've eaten off plan.

A big disappointment has been that my doctor has "suggested" I add another medication to my list.  The walking and exercise has been great, but I still need to lose 20 lbs for him to start reducing  my medication.  Diabetes is a bad disease.  No other way to say it.

Thank you for visiting today!  Let's go for a walk around the lake!  They have a great salad at the restaurant by the marina. Hope you are having a healthy October!

Love,
