It's July and that means the beautiful crepe myrtles are blooming!
Most crepe myrtles have a gorgeous watermelon red color
but some are pink. This crepe myrtle is a few blocks from
my home and I admire it every time I drive by. Crepe myrtles
are beloved in the south because they provide two essential
elements, beauty and shade. Can't live without either!
Southern Living has a great web page on growing crepe myrtles.
And if you think crepe myrtles are magnificent now,
just wait til fall when the leaves turn colors...my oh my!
Love,
Lottie
I love crepe myrtles. I have 5 red ones.
ReplyDeleteWe have a lot of them around here--I especially love when their blossoms blow into the ponds--you get pink and white (we have white ones too) blossoms floating in the water with the ducks and geese--it is really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHi Lottie,
ReplyDeleteCrepe myrtles are so pretty. Especially the trees. The trees do not live here in Mo. very well so you mainly see bushes. When I visited Memphis, TN. was the first time that I actually became aware of the trees. So beautiful! Gina
