Tueday is Farmer's Market Day

We just love fresh vegetables!  For many years we grew large gardens and did a lot of canning.  But I don't know if it is old age or global warming, but we have not had much luck with gardening in the last few years.  We didn't make one at all this year and DH was amazed today when our water bill arrived and it was much lower than summer's past!  Even without a garden, we are still eating good!

No, these beautiful tomatoes are not from the neighbor's garden.  With no rain and temps in the 100+, all our neighbors have about given up on backyard gardens.

Thank goodness for the Farmer's Market on Tuesday mornings!  Although about half of the farmers were there today, we still were able to score some great fresh vegetables today!

Do you live close to a Farmer's Market?

  1. We have to go the the farmers market this year to buy tomatoes. For some reason ours are dying. We did have good luck with our cucumbers, zucchini, peppers, and green beans.

  2. Love, love them!
We are fortunate that we four to go to in neighboring cities.
Mr. Ken's Dad gave us some home grown cucumbers and I have
made two batches of "Refrigerator Pickles" for Mr. Ken.

We haven't had a home garden for a couple of years--weather, squirrels and other critters cause so many problems.

    Enjoy your bounty.

Hope to see you soon at Dreaming!

  3. My tomatoes leaves turned yellow on some and some just shriveled up. Don't know what is in the air this year, nothing did well.

  4. Hmm...I wonder what's been causing such unsuccessful gardens in your parts, Lottie. In any case, thank goodness for your fabulous farmers market. Fresh produce is, today, such a treasure! I miss the weekly ones back home, on the island, which were a delight to visit.

    Have a lovely week!
